Minimum Wages Order 2016

In the 2016 Budget Speech on 23 October 2015 and during the Labour Day Event at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on 1 May 2016, the Honourable Prime Minister had announced a new minimum wages for employees in the private sector. The rates are prescribed in the Minimum Wages Order 2016
[P.U (A) 116] gazetted on 29 April 2016 and effective on 1 July 2016.

Minimum wages rates are set by monthly, daily and hourly. In relation to an employee who is not paid basic wages but is paid based on piece-rate, tonnage, task, trip or commission, the rate of monthly wages payable to the employee shall not be less than the monthly minimum wages rates.  
 
In line with the enforcement of the Minimum Wages Order 2016 on 1 July 2016, the Minimum Wages Order 2012 is repealed
